Alex Mitchell

Alex is a certified teacher from Ontario, Canada. He grew up in a small town two hours outside of Ottawa, before moving to St. Catharines, Ontario for school. At Brock University, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education (2016) and a Masters of Education (2019). Although he is an elementary teacher by trade, Alex has taught grades 4-12 during his years in education. A history enthusiast, Alex worked as the Assistant Curator of Educational Programmes at the Niagara Falls History Museum for two years. In his free time, Alex loves to experience the culture and art of the world, explore the great outdoors, and play ice hockey and curling. As a teacher, Alex prides himself on being a community builder and teaching students academically, socially, and emotionally in order to become healthy and happy citizens of the world.

The Bilingual Program is appealing to Alex. Teaching models such as the “family model of language instruction” and “co-teaching” are innovative and unique to Bilingual. ESL teaching positions in other countries are in international schools, but only Bilingual places foreign teachers into public schools to maximize teacher integration and exposure to the local culture. Teaching in the Bilingual Program provides a high-quality teaching experience and a meaningful immersion into a foreign culture.
